Patna: In response to the call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to eliminate tuberculosis (TB) from India by the year 2025, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Patna on Wednesday adopted six TB patients of Bihta block and provided them nutritional kits. Nutritional diets will also be provided to all these patients for the next six months by the IIT.
At a program organized at Bihta’s primary health care centre, the visiting team of IIT faculties inquired from the patients about their ongoing treatment and explained to them that proper nutrition is also needed along with medicines. TB patients should also take proper dose of vitamins in their diet. Apart from this, the patient should also take plenty of proteins in their meals and medicines must be taken regularly.
IIT-Patna’s training and placement officer Kripa Shankar Singhwho accompanied the team, observed that more than 25 percent of the total TB patients of the world are found in India and most of the people suffering from TB come from marginalized sections of the society.
